Plantar Fasciitis, Foot Pain Prevented With Calcium, Magnesium?

While foot pain called “Plantar Fasciitis” can have various causes, two elements may prevent it: calcium and magnesium.

From ultra-high-heeled shoes to working on one’s feet all day, from playing hard sports to shopping ‘til you drop, there are many activities which seem to have adverse effects on the feet. Needless to say, foot problems are abundant and even popular nowadays especially as evidenced by the growing number of podiatrists going into practice as well as the swelling and growth of their clinics.

Not quite of epidemic proportions, foot pain, inflammation and Plantar Fasciitis are yet prominent and, though may be related to stressful activity, mineral deficiency becomes a most common “accomplice,” to their causes, specifically with regard to calcium and magnesium. For in their deficiency or imbalance, muscles and even nerves that supply the muscles become incapable and can malfunction.

What IS Plantar Fasciitis?

Also referred to as “policeman’s heel,” Plantar Fasciitis is basically an inflammation of the thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. It is essentially stabbing foot pain localized to the heel.

Inflammation occurs in a variety of ways including from direct injury but can also be caused in many indirect ways. One way, for instance, would be when the body is over-stressed. The adrenal glands (stress glands adjacent to the kidneys) produce several hormones, one of which is “cortisol” which is supposed to control inflammation in the body. A stressed-out, under-productive adrenal gland can leave the body inflamed and in pain – the feet, heels and toes no exception.

Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis.

The most common description of this condition by sufferers, particularly women, would be stabbing heel pain, especially in the morning, in getting out of bed and taking that first step of the day.

Limping, stiffness, tenderness, swelling, etc. all are other related complaints. The key is foot pain and it is really no more complicated than that as to indicators of the condition. The key is what lies beneath.

Did other symptoms elsewhere in the body precede the foot pain?

In a world of super-specialization, it becomes difficult to step back and see the bigger picture. Famous detective Sherlock Holmes once wrote something on a chalk board and had his faithful assistant, Watson, stand with his nose to the chalkboard and read it. He was unable. In having him step back, Watson was able to see that what his nose was touching was his own name ‘Watson” written in oversized letters.

Symptoms work much like this. Specializing in an area and focusing on inflammation itself in the connecting tissue may produce the ability to assign a treatment of the pain and inflammation itself, but a step back and a wider look may be more revealing. Factually, other parts of the body could have been producing symptoms which preceded the condition.

Can other parts of the body malfunctioning result in foot pain?

Short answer? Yes.

According to many chiropractors and osteopaths, the spinal column being misaligned can interfere with nerves which supply the legs and feet. Nerve energy is crucial in any part of the body functioning properly. In the absence of nerve flow, muscles and other parts can malfunction and become painful.

Without such physical interference, as in the spine impinging on nerves, the energy should flow along the nerves in adequate supply. The energy itself, however, comes from a variety of sources, mainly the minerals calcium and magnesium. In deficiency, nerve energy also does not flow causing a similar, deteriorating condition.

And, as previously mentioned, stress in the body can cause its very stress glands to malfunction, creating deficiency of the very hormone which prevents and handles inflammation.

Your podiatrist can help, but what can you do to prevent foot pain?

Should you throw out your high heels? Not likely – even if it would help, this would be, by today’s standards especially, fashionably incorrect!

While you should seek a good podiatrist who can treat foot pain with a variety of treatments even including custom orthotics for your shoes, you can also help by handling stress, inflammation and prevent pain in the body by making certain that you have calcium and magnesium in adequate supply.

Just taking calcium and magnesium randomly may not work…

It’s easy for someone to tell you “just take calcium” as a supplement. Calcium itself takes many forms and has many properties which, if interfered-with, can make the calcium as effective as a rock, which is what it is essentially in the incorrect form. It also must be taken in correct proportion to magnesium, it’s “partner” mineral which activates it. These two must have a very specific acidity of environment. It’s clear that it is slightly complicated and not for the layman to trifle with.

Instant CalMag-C is laboratory-formulated in the exact ratio necessary, using the correct forms of both minerals, with Vitamin C as a catalyst to create the optimum environment, in a quick-absorbing supplement. The result is a body that is getting what it needs.

Having the right minerals, the body just may avert conditions like Plantar Fasciitis or foot pain altogether. After all, the best way to handle any condition is to prevent it from happening.
