How to Lose Weight AND Increase Energy

The essence of successful weight loss is to increase energy production.

Many people want to lose weight AND have more energy. The problem of weight loss, however, is actually solved by an increase in energy!

How to have more energy

A diet that optimizes energy production, reduces excessive food cravings and increases ability to exercise is important.  For this reason the diet should include proper balance of all nutrients that burn fat.

B Vitamins

Balanced B vitamins are essential in energy production.  If vitamin B5 is under-supplied, fats burn at around half their normal rate.  Stored fat cannot be changed to energy without vitamin B6 as it is needed to use protein effectively so a deficiency can easily lead to obesity.  B vitamins are sensitive to balance. So taking one or two alone for some time will lead to imbalances and probably to deficiency symptoms of the others.

Protein

Proteins are needed for many energy-producing enzymes, so fat is burned more rapidly when protein is adequate.  It is important to take adequate vitamin E when a diet has been deficient in protein as it greatly increases the utilization of fat but protein needs mainly choline and vitamin B6 to prevent the protein itself from being changed to excessive fat.

Lecithin

Lecithin contains both choline and inositol – the important fat-soluble parts of the B vitamins. A principle function of lecithin is to help the cells burn fat, so a deficiency can often be seen to lead to conditions that are associated with poor fat utilization. (If you read the label of any chocolate you will see it contains lecithin. It is used to break down the particles and mix them with the liquid otherwise the chocolate would be lumpy and unpleasant. This is how fat utilization works.)

Cholesterol

Overweight people usually have high blood fat and cholesterol, indicating poor energy production. The wrong way to go is to take substances that prevent cholesterol production or cause it to be eliminated from the body. The brain and nerves are constructed largely of cholesterol and every living cell in the body uses cholesterol to create optimum cell permeability.

High cholesterol means the fats are not being broken down and utilized but floating around and creating blockages.

Correct oils and other nutrients are a much better way to go, so the fats can be used for energy production and the cholesterol can feed the brain, nerves and live cells of the body.

Poor fat utilization can often be traced to liver damage as the liver plays a major part in energy production from fats.  The main nutrients needed by the liver for energy production are adequate protein, balanced B vitamins including choline and inositol, the main ingredients of lecithin.

Small, frequent meals

When small meals are eaten, most of the food can be converted into energy.  With large meals the body’s enzymes system cannot cope, so a large portion of it is stored as fat.

Oils and Lecithin

Lecithin aids in burning fats.  To produce lecithin, the body needs balanced essential fatty acids, vitamin B6, choline, inositol and magnesium.  If one wishes to reduce weight, the major essential fatty acids can be supplied in a reasonable balance by taking daily a tablespoon of flax seed oil and a teaspoon of peanut oil or a handful of raw peanuts.

The oils should be cold pressed as heating changes their chemical structure.  Heated fats should be avoided or minimized.  Ensure you consume only the correct oils and eliminate or severely restrict fats that have been heated by cooking or in the manufacturing process.

Lecithin supplements can be used, but as they are generally high in phosphorus need to be balanced with a calcium and magnesium supplement — don’t underestimate this. You have to keep the calcium and phosphorus balance right or you will create other problems. See below for more about our simple-to-use calcium and magnesium product, Instant CalMag-C.

Fat does not make you fat

Modern “paleo” diets are advocating up to 65% of your calories – not food volume – should be taken as good fats. Fats do not make you fat, excessive carbs do — as will be covered in another article.

Taking enough good oils will reduce carb cravings.

INSTANT CALMAG-C

Why Instant CalMag-C Works: It has been formulated in a 2:1 ratio of calcium gluconate and magnesium carbonate with vitamin C to adjust the pH so your body can actually use it.

Why is this important?

Calcium and magnesium are two minerals your body needs. Without them, life would cease. They are very important as they are responsible for hundreds of body functions.

Simply, calcium’s job is to contract the muscles while magnesium’s job is to relax them, and that’s effectively how the heart and all other muscles work. The nervous system sends signals to all different organs, glands and other body parts to tell them what to do.

Calcium Needs Magnesium: In order for the body to absorb calcium, it needs magnesium – and vice versa – in a 2:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium. The best form of calcium is the gluconate form. (It is also used for severe pain.)

Calcium and Magnesium Need Vitamin C: As both minerals are alkaline, they can’t be absorbed by the body unless they have some kind of acid such as vitamin C (or apple cider vinegar). Failing to have this balance can increase deficiencies of both calcium and magnesium.

We have used both ascorbic and citric acids to create the correct pH so the body can absorb and use the calcium and magnesium efficiently. Having calcium without the proper pH can result in calcium depositing in joints (arthritis) or kidneys (stones) and even behind the eyes (cataracts).

It is safe for small babies (great for teething, colicky and restless babies) in very small doses, like the tip of a teaspoon in their water bottle. As tolerance increases, you can increase it slowly.
