Hair – Losing It or The Color

In helping people with their health and nutrition, I find many – men and women – who complain about losing their hair and was I ever surprised to learn how many people have to color their hair because it’s grey. That includes even youngish people so I thought some data about hair might be a good idea.

Many believe it’s a genetic problem. In some cases this might be true but it really is largely to do with diet – the lack of some important nutrients. The thyroid could also be the source of the problem and, in most cases, this still comes back to nutrition.

Here are some excerpts from the works of world-famous nutritionist, Adelle Davis, on the subject of losing hair and its color.

“…. I saw a colony of black Cocker Spaniels whose diets were identical except for Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). The well-fed animals were beautiful creatures with sleek fur and boundless energy; although fully grown, they were like pups which could not be trusted with a bedroom slipper. Their litter mates without Pantothenic acid appeared to be miserable old animals of extreme age; their hair was coarse and grey; their heads drooped, eyes half-closed. When Pantothenic acid is given to such animals, the normal color and texture of hair are restored, and the appearance of youth is to some extent regained.

“In addition to liver, yeast, rice polish, and wheat germ, Pantothenic acid is found in kidneys, soybeans, and peanuts; egg yolks and whole grains are fair sources; muscle meats contain little; the vitamin is lost in refining of flour. The richest sources are adrenal glands and royal jelly, the food of the queen bee.”

“…. Loss of hair often occurs in animals deficient in any one of several B vitamins or certain amino acids.

“…. Deficiencies of at least four B vitamins, PABA, Biotin, Folic Acid, and Pantothenic Acid, appear to affect hair color. One scientist who had conducted years of research on these B vitamins and has repeatedly produced gray hair in dark mice, rats, silver foxes, and black dogs even states all gray hair is probably a symptom of multiple nutritional deficiencies.

“….I have never seen the color of any person’s hair restored by the taking of synthetic B vitamins. I have, however, seen a dozen or more cases of persons whose hair color has been remarkably restored after they began to take adequate diets unusually rich in these vitamins

“One was a fairly young woman whose hair was white; she became so enthusiastic in applying sound nutrition that a year later she had almost no gray hair. Recently I saw a man of 76 whose hair had been white for years; after he followed a good nutrition program for a decade, his hair is black.”

Best Source of B Vitamins

One of the best and most practical sources of the B vitamins is Brewer’s Yeast. It is loaded with B vitamins, protein and many minerals.

I have helped a lot of people with sleep issues, inability to switch off at night, cravings, and many other issues using a combination of Brewer’s Yeast, calcium and magnesium.

Brewer’s Yeast is food so you don’t have to worry about dosages. It is a good source of some minerals including phosphorus. Because of this, it needs to be balanced up with calcium so you don’t get wired liked race horse and that’s where Instant CalMag-C comes in.

Instant CalMag-C

Calcium Needs Magnesium: In order for your body to absorb calcium, it needs to be accompanied by its partner, magnesium, in a balanced ratio of two parts calcium to one part magnesium.

Calcium and Magnesium Need Vitamin C: As both calcium and magnesium are alkaline, they need some kind of acid to adjust the pH so they can be absorbed. Failing to have this combination can lead to increased deficiencies of calcium and/or magnesium or the calcium depositing in joints (arthritis) or kidneys (stones). You can use apple cider vinegar but vitamin C is usually a more practical and better-tasting solution.

Why Our Instant CalMag-C Works: Unlike tablets and capsules that sometimes don’t break down properly or are not correctly formulated, Instant CalMag-C has been formulated in a 2:1 blend of calcium gluconate and magnesium carbonate with vitamin C to adjust the pH so your body can actually absorb the calcium and magnesium. This is very important.
