5 Ulcer Facts That Show Acid Is Not The Enemy

The human digestive system is a delicately-balanced sort of ecosystem with specific parameters, requirements and tolerances. And, while acidic foods seem to irritate it, especially when it comes to an ulcer, the opposite has been found to be true. Alkalinity (opposite of acidity) is the real enemy. Here are 5 facts that tell the story.

ULCER FACT #1: Acid causes an ulcer only if stomach lining is already damaged.

Part of the confusion comes from the fact that damage to the stomach walls due to stress can result in stomach acid damaging its membranes, all resulting in a conclusion that later foods eaten are the culprit. The previous damage insidiously accomplished, it becomes hard to detect the correct cause.

ULCER FACT #2: Alkalinity is the actual cause.

An acid environment is required for proper digestion. Consuming alkaline foods therefore tends to neutralize acids required to properly digest causing nutritional issues and additional stress.

ULCER FACT #3: Stress Plays a Major Role In Confusing the Issue

Stress is well known to cause or exacerbate health problems, and the stomach is an easy target. In fact stomach ulcers are commonly attributed to over-stress. Damage to stomach walls causes

digestive sensitivity and acid foods can begin to cause irritation as a secondary action, despite not being the original cause. Even painkillers can bring about enough stress to damage stomach lining.

ULCER FACT #4: Remedies are NOT what they seem.

It turns out that antacids, the very things taken for an ulcer, being alkaline, designed to neutralize stomach acid. They tend to over-neutralize stomach acids making digestion less effective when good nutrition is needed. This can aggravate any ulcer situation.

ULCER FACT #5: Nutrition, or lack thereof, plays an important role.

So-called “acidic” foods (protein, fruit juices) do not have bad effects on the stomach walls. Alkaline foods, however, do create a damaging, “neutralizing” effect. In addition, when an ulcer already exists, certain deficiencies can prevent or slow healing. Vitamins which help repair scar tissue, such as vitamin E for instance, work to repair the situation however, can be washed away by poor nutritional intake or simply missing.

Supplements need to be taken in balance with a good underlying diet.

Repair is, of course, necessary when an ulcer occurs but, without handling the underlying causes, it is only short term relief at best. So, taking vitamins to help repair scar tissue are ineffective in the face of the elements which cause ulcers in the first place. Therefore, prevention is key, even concurrent with repair of ulcers.

Be sure to get a proper diet, rich in vitamins and minerals, reduce stress wherever and however possible. Instant CalMag-C is one element that can be added. With the stress-relieving effects of calcium and magnesium, the health and repair benefits of vitamin C and a pH nearly matching the body’s natural ideal, it can be a great companion supplement in the prevention of ulcers.

Just try it today and see what health benefits you experience.
